Bride Valley Farm Shop in the picturesque village of Abbotsbury sells traditionally reared meat, poultry and eggs which have been locally produced. The shop is owned by John and Patricia Barker who farm nearby at Longlands Farm in Littlebredy. The speciality of the shop is their home reared beef from Dorset Longhorn cattle which graze the chalk downland. The land is specially managed for conservation without the use of chemical fertilizers or herbicides.
The cattle are pure-bred longhorns, an old English breeed producing a superior meat which is very popular with discerning customers. The pork, lamb poultry and eggs are carefully sourced from selected producers, who raise their livestock to the same high standards. The shop also sells pate, pies, sausage rolls and other delicacies made locally from Longlands Farm beef and also creams, cheeses, chutneys, honey and other local products. Special orders are welcome. Bride Valley Farm Shop supplies many of the top local restaurants and hotels and has become one of the best known quality meat suppliers in the region.
